Sylvia Jean Johnston Peterson

Sylvia Jean Johnston Peterson, 80, of Waveland, MS, passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, February 6, 2023.

Sylvia was a member of St. Clare Catholic Church. 

She loved cooking, sewing, and spending time with grandchildren and great-grandchild. Later in life, her love of feeding her family and many guests led her to join her son in cooking at his Waveland restaurant, S & B's Bar and Grill, where she's worked for the past 25 years.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband, John Daniel Peterson; her parents, Richard and Dorothy Johnston; and her brothers, Richard Johnston Jr. and James Johnston.

She is survived by three children, Karen Nelson, Lisa Parker, and Scott Peterson (Jessica); five grandchildren, Gracyn (James), Zachary, Brandon, Jacob, and Camryn; one great-grandchild, Sutton; and two brothers, Patrick Johnston and Dennis Johnston (Missy). And she was a sweet nanny and meme to many godchildren and others.

Funeral Services will be held in Waveland on Saturday, February 11, 2023. Visitation will be at St. Clare Catholic Church from 10am till 11am. Mass of Christian Burial at 11am. Interment to follow at Waveland Cemetery.
