Sam Joseph Celino Sr., has peacefully gone to Heaven with his parents, wife and daughter on Sunday afternoon, May 19, 2024. He was 85 years old. Beloved husband of the late Barbara Katicich Celino, Loving Father of, Christian J. Celino (Betty), Colin J. Celino (Julie Crumley), the late Patricia C. Singley (the late Glenn C Singley), Sam J. Celino, Jr. (Julie). Grandfather to, Kristy N. Celino, Anthony J. Celino (Amanda), Heather C. Craig (Coy), Nick P. Celino, Summer J. Singley (Kat), Jonathan P. Celino, Joshua D. Celino and Matthew G. Celino. He had seven great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. Also survived by numerous other relatives and friends.
Sam attended Belle Chasse High School and married Barbara in 1958. He was a traveling Salesman, a real estate professional, as well as an entertainment manager for ASCAP who enjoyed playing the saxophone. He was in the Reserves for the Army National guard and spent many years managing bands including “The Platters”. He and Barbara would take the family camping while he was on the road selling magazines and at one point lived in Monroe for a short period, but came back home to New Orleans in the late 70’s They sold T-shirts and hats at fairs, and Sam loved rocks and crystals, besides his love of coins. Sam and Barbara were world travelers having visited over 101 countries.
Sam was the son of the late John and Ida Celino, of Belle Chasse, Louisiana. And the brother of the late, Anthony “Tony” “Nino” Celino, Sr., Vincent Celino, Emile Celino, Rose C. Guillot Marie C. Mathis, and Patricia Celino. We would like to take this time to thank the members of Mississippi Home Health Care for helping take care of Sam over the last few months.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 1, 2024 at St. Clare Catholic Church, 236 S. Beach Blvd. in Waveland, MS. Viewing times are 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. for family and 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. for family and friends. Mass at 11:00 a.m. followed by burial at Gulf Coast Memorial Cemetery in Bay St. Louis, MS. There will be a reception to immediately follow the burial. Edmond Fahey Funeral Home in Bay St. Louis, MS is in charge of the arrangements.
