Reverend Richard LaCorte, 76, of Bay St. Louis, MS passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2022.
Father LaCorte was born on May 28, 1946 in Boston. MA. Bishop James Sullivan ordained Fr. LaCorte a priest of the Fargo Diocese at the Cathedral of St. Mary in Fargo on May 15, 1987.
During his time in the Diocese of Fargo, Fr. LaCorte served in the following parishes: The Basilica of St. James in Jamestown, Blessed Sacrament in West Fargo, St. Benedict’s in Wild Rice, Holy Family in Grand Forks, Sacred Heart in Rolette, Notre Dame Parish in Willow City, St. Boniface in Liderwood, St. Martin’s in Geneseo, and the Cathedral of St. Mary in Fargo. Fr. LaCorte retired from active ministry in the Diocese of Fargo on June 30, 2012.
After retirement, Fr. LaCorte came to the Biloxi Diocese, ministering at Sacred Heart and Holy Rosary Parishes in Hattiesburg. He also served as Parochial Administrator of Annunciation Parish, Kiln, MS until October 2014. He offered his services in many parishes and was involved in a weekly prayer group.
He held a BA, Speech and Drama, Catholic University, studied Theology at Dominican House in Washington, D.C., The Master Dei Institute, Spokane, WA, an MA Spirituality, Gonzaga University, Spokane, WA.
He was a member of Priest’s Fraternities of St. Dominic, Franciscan Third Order, Fourth Degree K. of C. He was the author of “ In The Year of Grace and The Enclosed Garden”, a collection of poetry and short stories.
Visitation will be held Friday, September 16, 2022 at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church in Bay St. Louis, MS from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon with a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 noon. Interment to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Bay St. Louis, MS.
