Michael Paul Larroux, also known simply as Michael P., 77, died on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 in Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi.
Michael P. was born on August 3, 1946, to Helen Brighenti Larroux and Jean Francois (Jimmy) Larroux. A native and lifelong resident of Bay St. Louis, Michael was educated at St. Joseph Academy, St. Stanislaus College, and the University of Mississippi, and graduated from Ole Miss, where he earned a degree in accounting. Like his father, he was an accomplished cabinet maker who also excelled at wood carving and sculpture.
Over the years he was affiliated with such diverse institutions and organizations such as his parish church and various community groups. He was a daily communicant at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church and served as a lector there until he became ill in 2022. Conversely he was among the founding members of the Komic Kurt Kinski Karnival Krewe & Karrying on Klub, one of the town's most colorful Mardi Gras organizations. He worked for the Hancock County Library for nearly 20 years and retired in 2022. In recent years he was a resident at Dunbar Village in Bay St. Louis where he was in hospice care when he died. \
Michael P. was preceded in death by his parents and a half-sister, Gloria Saucier Benigno (Luke).
He is survived by a sister, Eleanor Jean Larroux Prescott; brother, Jean F. Larroux, Jr. (Maureen), nieces, Jean Marie Beasley (Mark), Hayden Larroux Biggs (Mike), Aleana Waite (Ben), and Teri Lucas (Charlie); and nephew, Jean F. Larroux III (Valerie), as well as several great nieces and nephews and one great-great nephew.
He will be missed by kin and a great number of close friends.
Funeral services for Michael P. Larroux will be conducted on Saturday March 23 at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church, 228 South Beach Blvd. in Bay St. Louis MS.
They will begin at 11 a.m. with a visitation in the church, followed by a Requiem Mass at noon. After Mass, all attending are welcome to a "remember Michael" gathering in the community room of the St. Joseph Adoration Chapel on Union Street, which is in short walking distance of the church.
Interment will take place at a later date.
