Melba Faye "Bobbie" Boxx

Melba Faye “Bobbie” Boxx, born April 23, 1928, in Brusly, Louisiana, passed away in Bay St. Louis on July 5th 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of the late Rena Lejeune and Delma Lejeune. Bobbie was preceded in death by her beloved husband Bertell William “Bill” Boxx.

She is survived by her four children: Susan Karyl Boxx, Karen Elizabeth Boxx (Todd Maybrown), William Drew Boxx (Renee), and Donald Boxx (Amanda). Bobbie was a cherished grandmother to eleven grandchildren: Taylor Ransom, Zachary Ransom, Graham Ransom, Perry Maybrown, William Boxx, Mary Alexis Boxx, Granston Boxx, Anna Grace Boxx, Elizabeth Boxx Briggs, Dillon Boxx, and Daniel Boxx. She also leaves behind eight great-grandchildren, Ella Briggs, Avery Briggs, Caleb Boxx, Jeffery “Tripp” Johnson, Everly Boxx, Colette Boxx, Lennon Boxx, and Benjamin Eli “Bubba” Boxx, who brought her much joy in her last years living in Bay St. Louis with her son Drew and daughter-in-law Renee.

An accomplished quilter and seamstress, Bobbie’s creativity and skill were admired by all who knew her. She was very proud of her Cajun heritage and spent many hours tracing her family's genealogy.

Special thanks to the Gentiva Hospice team, her nurse Chris Leighton, and her caretaker Estella Beech, who showed her much love and compassion in her last days and gave invaluable support to her family.

Services will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at St. Rose de Lima Catholic Church in Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi. Visitation from 10:00 a.m. till 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m.

Interment will take place at the Biloxi National Cemetery in Biloxi, Mississippi after a private graveside ceremony.
