Leianna “Lea” Mary Young (née Rasche)
January 24th, 1944 to September 10th, 2024
Known by her friends and family as “Lea”, she departed this world after a wonderful and fulfilling life. She is preceded in death by her parents Leo William Rasche and Sarah Anne Cowgill of Saint Louis, Missouri. She leaves behind her beloved children and their families: her son Peter, his wife Kari, grandsons Leo, Seth, and Gavin; and her son Nathan, his wife Takako, and granddaughters Erika and Lena. Lea wore many hats over her fascinating life including urban planner, radio talk show host, political consultant, amateur movie producer, model, realtor, boxing promoter, and public information director for the Orleans Parish Office of the Civil Sheriff. She was active in politics and community service, serving as a board member on 50+ organizations, but felt her greatest contribution to civic life was her six terms as president of the New Orleans chapter of the League of Women Voters. Her greatest motivation was to always leave a positive impact on those who knew her and the world we share. She greatly cherished her many close friends and the love of her extended family.
A celebration of a life well-lived will be held in Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi at the 100 Men Hall (the100MenHall.com) on Sunday, October 6th 2024, from 1-4pm. All who knew and loved Lea are welcome to attend.
