Lawrence Edward Wheeler

Lawrence "Captain Larry" Wheeler, 73, passed away on December 17, 2024 at his home in Diamondhead MS. 

Larry was born on June 12, 1951, in Manchester New Hampshire to Lawrence and Patricia (Boynton) Wheeler. Larry grew up in the Chesapeake Bay region of Maryland, lived many years in New Orleans and Violet Louisiana, then Saltillo Mississippi, and ultimately settling in Diamondhead. He had a great love of boating, fishing, drag racing, and muscle cars and trucks. Larry had a distinguished career as a towboat pilot and captain, finishing his career and retiring from Kinder Morgan Amory Bulk Terminal in Amory Mississippi. He was well loved and will be missed by many. 

Larry was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, John and Skip. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Laurie (LaCour) Wheeler; his daughters, Cheryl Najera and Emily Clark; son-in-law, Timothy Clark; son, Gregory Wheeler; daughter-in-law, Jordan Waltz; grandsons, Trevor Najera and Tony Najera; great-grandson, Diego; and his loving in-laws, nieces, great-nieces, and cousins.
