Our beloved Granny, Laurin Ann LaFontaine, passed away at the age of 72 on Wednesday, April 16, 2025. She is survived by her daughter Vicki Lynn Favre (Brian); her son Terrell O. LaFontaine, II (Julie); her five grandchildren: Natalie, Emily (Josh), Erin, Ethan, Evan; her siblings: Donald Favre (Dawn); Keith Favre; her sister-in-law Elaine Favre; her nieces and nephews: Jennifer (Michelle), Josh, Jason, Jacob, Michelle, Keene, Conor, Colin, Kyle, Kelly, Keith, Kim, Kendall, Alisha, Shea, Heather, Tyler, Ledier, Priscilla, Kevin, Tara; and her many great nieces and nephews, as well as their children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Terrell O. LaFontaine; her grandparents Alphonse Favre, Sr. and Inez Blaize & Albert Monti and Victoria Dillman; parents, Lydia Monti Favre and A.G. Favre, Jr.; her brother, Gabe Favre; her sister Adele Favre; nephew Chad LaFontaine; and niece Stephanie Favre.
Laurin Ann was a member of Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church, leader of Girl Scout Troop 453, and a former treasurer & hamburger chef of Bay St. Louis Little League, but her greatest joys remained elsewhere. After 40 years working in the finance department at St. Stanislaus, Laurin Ann joined her husband Terrell in retirement, hitting every casino they could with her in-laws. They were Wednesday regulars at the Island View and loved the occasional weekend getaway to try their luck at the casinos in Philadelphia, MS (Laurin Ann swore she was cursed at every slot machine since Terrell always took home the biggest winnings). The only thing Laurin Ann loved more than a good book was a good movie; she had the biggest DVD/VCR collection, from Disney animations to classic Western movies. While she could cook just about anything and everything you could ask for, she was best known for her red velvet cake and bread pudding. Her talents knew no bounds: if she wasn’t making a delicious home-cooked meal, she was busy cross-stitching and sewing countless gifts for those she loved. Her love language was certainly acts of service, and she never failed to make others feel special.
She was the perfect example of a strong matriarch for her family and took the role proudly. She always welcomed everyone to a snack, a drink, and a piece of candy from her wide assortment on the table. You could always count on her to be one of the first people to call for your birthday and send a perfectly picked out card. Her ability to correctly answer even the most complicated form of mental math was just as impressive as her ability to remember everyone’s birthday or anniversary. She could tell you everyone’s family heritage down to the first ancestor (and all of their birthdays as well).
Laurin Ann was fiercely loyal to those closest to her, but no one came close to her five grandbabies. She loved them more than anything in the world, and they will carry on her memory and legacy forever. Her caring smile and love will live on through everyone who was lucky enough to know her. While everyone will miss her deeply, it brings great comfort and joy to know that she is finally reunited with her Terrell.
