Jean Marie Chambley, 79, of Bay St. Louis, MS passed away Tuesday, August 13 2024, in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi.

She was a member of Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church in Bay St. Louis, MS and made lasting contributions to her community through various organizations including, American Legion Auxiliary Post 139, Hancock County Women's Republican Club, and former committee member of the Gulf Coast Bridge Association.

Jean's career as a Registered Nurse took her from Massachusetts to Georgia before she ultimately retired in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. She was a dedicated healthcare professional who touched the lives of many patients throughout her career.

In her free time, Jean found joy in quilting, playing bridge, and being part of a book club. She quilted beautiful quilts and table decor that her family and friends will forever cherish. Jean also quilted well over one hundred pocket prayers and shared them with family, friends, church members, chemotherapy patients, and oncology staff.

Jean was preceded in death by her father, Robert Sylvester, Sr., mother, Violet Wallace, and brother, Thomas Sylvester.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness, survived by her four children, Donna Lamken, (John), Robyn Sloniecki (Jamie), Brenda Ferreira, and Emile Kane; brother, Robert Sylvester, Jr.; six grandchildren, Joanna Moses (Jim), Jonathan Lamken (Courtney), Matthew Lamken (Kayleigh), Michael Taylor (Ashley), Cody Sloniecki, Marissa Ferreira (fiancé-Tim Dalton); six great-grandchildren, Andrew Moses, Ashley Moses, Anna Moses, Aiden Moses, Kyle Lamken, and Layla Lamken.

The family would like to thank Dr. Wall and the oncology team for their care, attention, and compassion over Jean's five year battle with cancer. The family would also like to thank the dedicated caregivers at Vitalcare Hospice who provided care and support to Jean and her family over the past several weeks.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, August 26, 2024 at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church in Bay St. Louis, MS at 11:00 a.m.

Interment in Massachusetts at a later date.
