Fred Jackson Burson, Jr.,80, of Bay St. Louis, MS, passed away Friday, March 14, 2025 in Bay St. Louis, MS.
Fred dedicated his professional life to the International Houseware Company, where he made significant contributions in Business Management, as a Houseware Representative, and through his work at the Dallas Trade Mart. He also served as the mayor of Rock Island, OK, demonstrating his commitment to public service and leadership in his community.
A devout Mason, Fred held membership in Masonic lodges in Mosholatubbee, OK, Long Beach, MS, and Bay St. Louis, MS. His deep faith was evident in his role as a Bible scholar, Sunday School teacher, and Deacon within Baptist churches across Oklahoma and Mississippi. Additionally, he proudly served his country as a Navy Veteran and was a charter member of the World War II Museum.
Fred's spirit and humor touched many lives. In the words of his beloved grandson, Bryant Bates, “Grandpa Fred gained his wings and embarked on his journey to eternal peace.” His quick wit, memorable comebacks, and delightful culinary skills will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He was preceded in death by his infant son, James Burson, and his parents, Fred Jackson Burson, Sr. and Dorothy McConnell Burson.
Fred is survived by his loving wife, Norma Cunningham Burson; two sons, Jeremy Burson (Kristina) and Cory Burson; stepchildren; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and his sister, Judy Burson Stillwell.
A Memorial Service to honor Fred’s life will be announced at a later date.
