With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of David Paul DeBlanc, Jr. on Wednesday, January 15, 2025.
David DeBlanc, affectionately known as “Dave” was born on March 9, 1979 in New Orleans, Louisiana to David Paul DeBlanc Sr. and Betty Elise Bowen.
Dave was the eldest of four sons. His brothers are Daniel DeBlanc, James “Jay” Vega, and John Vega and he had a step-brother Ben Hanfelder. Dave also had two loving step parents, James “Jim” Vega and Mary Anne DeBlanc. Dave’s blended families all played important roles in his life. He grew up in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, attended Saint Stanislaus Catholic High School, and then Mississippi State University, where he graduated top of his class with a degree in chemical engineering. Following college, he went on to work for ExxonMobil for 19 years, which provided him with the opportunity to live in Texas, Wyoming, Africa, Russia, and England. Dave is described by his peers as intelligent beyond his years, a proficient problem solver and a great friend. He married Christine Benvenutti in 2001, and became the proud father of Elizabeth, David, and Catherine. Later, he married Galina in 2017, and they shared eight years of marriage with their beloved dog Drake.
Dave was preceded in death by his father David Paul DeBlanc, Sr and both sets of grandparents: James and Elizabeth DeBlanc and James and Carolyn Bowen.
Additionally, he is survived by a multitude of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. A man of exploration and curiosity, he loved hunting, fishing, camping, playing chess, and was known for his cooking. His love for his family was immeasurable, and our love for him will stay forever in our hearts.
A celebration of David’s life will be held Saturday, January 25, 2025 at Edmond Fahey Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 3:30 PM, followed by a procession to Gulf Coast Memorial Cemetery.
