Beryl Jean Fitch Kidd

Beryl Jean Fitch Kidd, 98, of Bay St. Louis, MS, passed away in her home on Thursday, October 19, 2023.

Beryl was born on November 27, 1924 to Stanley and Edith Fitch. She was a lifetime member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 139 and a member of Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church and the Rabboni Society in Bay St. Louis. She was a homemaker and teacher’s assistant for years in the Bay-Waveland School District.

From teatime and sweets to the holidays, Beryl always cherished her time spent with family. She had a wonderful sense of humor and sly wit. As a war bride, she would tell stories about WWII and her family and home in Colchester. She loved to follow the royals, but she was always the Queen of our family. She also enjoyed her hobbies of sewing, crocheting, gardening, doing crossword, and word search puzzles, as well as creating fantastic hand-painted sand dollars. You would often find her in the kitchen cooking a family favorite or baking the sweet treat of the week.

Beryl was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley E. and Edith Mills; her husband, Lucien William Kidd; sisters, Joyce Leeds and Doris Shortland; brother, Douglas Fitch; and sons-in-law, Donald V. Freeman and J.D. Rutherford III, M.D.

She is survived by six children, William Lucien “Billy” Kidd (Janet) of Cypress, Texas, Geraldine Aileen Rutherford of Bay St. Louis, Janet Lucia Freeman of Bay St. Louis, Diana Edith McNeill (Howard) of Gulfport, Lucinda Grace Lang (Eaton “Bud”) of Pass Christian, and Lucien John Kidd (Patricia) of Reno, Nevada; twenty grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Dennis Robert “Bob” Fitch of Colchester, England.

Funeral Services will take place in Bay St. Louis, MS on Monday, October 23, 2023. Visitation at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church from 11:00 a.m. till 12:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church at 12:00 p.m. Entombment at Saint Mary Cemetery following mass.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church, 228 South Beach Blvd., Bay Saint Louis, MS 39520.

The family would like to extend a special appreciation to Beryl’s long time caregiver, Sherrie Hall and to Jenny Everidge as well as Enhabit Hospice care.
