Alan Peter Noonan, Sr., 85, of Waveland, MS went to his Lord and Savior on Sunday March 3, 2024. Born on March 5, 1938, in Washington, Missouri, Alan was the second of five children of Richard William Noonan and Gladys Schubert Noonan. Alan spent his childhood growing up in Waveland, MS when the family moved south in 1943. He graduated from Bay High School and attended Pearl River Junior College. He then enlisted in the US Navy and served on the USS Westchester County from 1958 to 1962, when he was honorably discharged.
Alan went to work for American District Telegraph (ADT) in New Orleans, Louisiana which transitioned to a 34-year career with International Business Machines (IBM) as a Service Representative, retiring in 2000. He was recognized for his exceptional work and service by receiving the "IBM Means Service" Award in 1982.
Alan was a member of St. Clare Catholic Church in Waveland, MS, American Legion Post 139 of Bay St. Louis, MS, the Bay Waveland Yacht Club, and the Shamrockers. He served several years as an Assistant Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 208 in Bay St. Louis.
Alan was an avid boater. He enjoyed both fishing and sailing. He especially enjoyed his Memorial Day campouts on Cat Island.
Alan was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Gladys Noonan, brother Richard Noonan (Shirley), and sister Patricia Noonan Warman. He is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Lana Taylor Noonan, daughters Alana Noonan Rutledge (Terry) and Natalie Noonan Madigan (Kyle), and son Alan Peter Noonan, Jr., sisters Marilyn Noonan Smith and Barbara Noonan Livers (Peter). He is also survived by five grandchildren, Daniel Rutledge, Joseph Rutledge, Sean Madigan, Felicity Madigan, and Brendan Madigan, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at St. Clare Catholic Church, Waveland, Saturday, March 9, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial. Navy Honors and Interment will follow at Saint Mary Cemetery in Bay Saint Louis.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Clare Catholic Church.
